GINA was launched in summer 2003 and is now in its second phase. The network currently focuses on women and alcohol issues, with the overall aim of reducing the level of alcohol related harm for men, women and children in Scotland.
Membership of the network is available to anyone who has an interest in or is involved with people whose lives are affected by alcohol.
Aims and Objectives
· To raise awareness of issues around gender groups and alcohol in Scotland
· To collect and disseminate information on gender and alcohol
· To facilitate communication within the network and with other strategic partners

· To facilitate the participation of GINA in alcohol policy development
· To participate in the development of services for women with alcohol problems
Activities
To achieve the above, GINA will work with key partners on the following activities:
· Developing services to support women with alcohol problems in prison and after discharge
· Producing information for professionals about alcohol issues, reproductive health and pregnancy
· Undertaking research about support for female prisoners and pregnant women with alcohol problems
