Prime Ministers Strategy Unit
The Prime Minister asked the Strategy Unit to carry out a project looking at how to tackle the problems associated with alcohol misuse. The project provided an analysis of the relevant issues and ways in which the problems associated with alcohol misuse might be tackled. This was followed by the publication of a strategy to reduce alcohol harm.

Home Office
The Home Office aims to reduce crime and the fear of crime. Alcohol related crime features in a number of its documents. The Home Office have published an action plan and a toolkit in relation to alcohol related crime, and have also undertaken a number of research studies.

Department of Health
The Department of Health is responsible for Government health policy on alcohol misuse in England.

Prison Service Alcohol Strategy
The new Strategy will focus on improving the consistency of alcohol treatment measures across the prison estate and build on existing good practice by providing a framework for addressing prisoners' alcohol problems.

DCMS - Alcohol and Entertainment
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is responsible for the reform of licensing law relating to the supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment  and the provision of late night refreshment in England and Wales. 

Welsh Assembly Government
The Welsh Substance Misuse strategy 'Tackling Substance Misuse in Wales: A Partnership Approach' was launched in May 2000.

Health Promotion Agency, Northern Ireland
Following funding from the Northern Ireland Drugs and Alcohol Campaign, drugsprevention.net has been expanded to include alcohol.
